Chapter 1: The meeting
The summer months had come and the others had gotten onto their train to their families that loved them and cared for them. Only she remained in the vast castle with the house elves in the kitchen and the beasts of the forest. There had been few for her to say goodby to, she had not made many friends in her time of a full year, though she wished she had. But the year would come again and she would try to ba accepted.
Her life as a slave prevented her from returning to her home like the others did. To find her home and adopted family would be to find her death as was the punishment for a slave who has fled her master three times. There was no chance of debating or reasoning her fate, so she remained here untill the students came again.
the young Ravenclaw went to her room and fell on her bed, the most comefortable bed she had ever slept on, and wrapped herself in her blankets. She stayed that way for a long time, basking in her lonelyness.
When the moon rose she went outside, as she had done every night since her comming here. the night had strange effects on her: her body was strenghened and her eyes sometimes became red. She looked to the full moon and howled much like the Griffondor traitor to the dark lord would have. But her howl fadded as she remembered her meeting with the dark lord.
she had come to him, telling him of the werewolf's tretchery and offered herself to take her life as punishment. But he truned her offer down, instead giving her the task of erasing the memories of all who were in the battle of the forest: The werewolf girl Alaya, the blind girl Rinoa, the dark lord's target Emilia, and several others. But the first year student could not carry this out. She had never known a way to erase memories before. Instead of fulfilling her duties she fled back to the safety of the castle to hide like a coward.
she cursed herself for her weakness. If anything, prove you are strong and face him. You always faced your master, no matter the beatings. What could you have lost, a worthless life? You're nothing more than a weak coward Yuna, face it
Her thoughts were interupted by a dragon's roar, deep within the forest. She stood and ran after it ignoring all thoughts of what could be her death waiting for her in the dragon's teeth. The forest became darker and darker as the moments passed, yet she never was able to not see each leaf on each tree and bush. Even the hairs of the unicorn's tails that had been torn off by the branches were gleaming.
The dragon roared when it saw her. It did not fly though it's powerful wings raised and fell as it tried. All across its dusty-brown colored scales was the stains and scars of blood. This dragon, one she reconized as a Hungarian Horntail, had been in battle.
"Come no closer human," It said though Yuna was certain dragons could not speak, "I have no need to fight with you. Let me go my own way and I will leave you be."
"But you're hurt," Yuna said slowing her pace so she crept towards it with her wand where it could see it. "I may be able to help you."
"My body will heal itself," She growled, "I'm not dead yet like the rest of you wand-weilding fools in that castle."
"At least let me see your wounds."
"I'm fine!" She roared and stepped back a ways so Yuna could not touch her. "Besides, the werewolf only scratched me, there wasn't a bite."
"A werewolf did this to you?" Yuna asked "Not one of the students here?" In her mind she cursed the griffondor girl.
"Not a student," she finally relaxed enough that she laid down and licked one of the cuts on her leg, "The student's father. I believe he was called Adam, a follower of the Death Eater Greyback. I had a mission, to find someone, and he attacked me and stole a student. A Death Eater there by the name of Inri called the stolen child 'the Crecent girl'. She may have been who I was looking for, if the power of the moon was truly with her. But there werewolf defeated me and I fell."
"I know what happened. I was the first one to find what was left after the attack. I brought the headmistress to try and help. I suppose I saw you there too, but you were dead."
"So you humans say," She said annoyed at the sound of 'human', "I was alive then, weak but alive. But I never found 'The Cresent Girl' so I must go back to my clan untill she may return." The Horntail rose and shook herself off. Most of her wounds were actualy gone and only the stain on her scaled remained. She raised her wings to fly away but Yuna called out to her, to stop her.
"Wait, when will I see you again?"
"Why would you want to see me? I am a great, terrible, fire-breathing monster. Wouldn't you rather be rid of me? Besides, you want to be loyal to the dark lord, I can have nothing to do with you."
"I turned away from the dark lord," She half lied leaving out the failure part, "I don't actualy want to join him. I was just wanting to find glory and entertainment while I was here." She hoped the dragon would believe her enough to stay, just a bit longer, and she did.
"What is your name, Human?"
"I am Yuna."
At that moment, for the first time, their eyes met. Yuna could feel the slight pain in her eyes that meant they were changing color again. The Dragon's eyes did the same and both became violet. As she looked deep into the dragon's eyes she could hear her voice, though her mouth did not move
"The child's name means moon, perhaps I have not failed GrandMaster! And her eyes, they change just as ours do!" but the feeling of hearing her thoughts faded when she spoke again. "I will see to it that we meet again. My people call me Talma."
Yuna returned to the castle happier then she could ever remember and looked foward to her next meeting with Talma.
