Rainflower paced from the towers and onto the grounds. The sun shone today, a bright shphere of orange in a cloudless blue sky. A breeze sifted gently through her clothes and hair. Once her hooves were free of the stone floor of the castle she leapt forward into a galloping run. Her hooves did not seperate as a humans' did durring her race making it seem as though each pace was a seperate leap rather than a stride.
She stopped when she reached the edge of the forbidden forest as she noticed a beast she had not before. Great wings were held steadily at its sides as it tore into some kill with a large hooked beak. Massive golden brown paws held its kill in place. A long tail lashed behind it as it ate.
The faun remained completly still as she watched, praying it did not notice her and wondering why it was there. Didn't beasts like this live in the mountains or something? She did remember one fact about the beast: that it was an enemy to all horses. Rainflower glanced at her legs thankful she hadn't been born a centaur, for surely a half equine form would have provoked it into attacking on sight. But would being half goat instead really make all that much difference?

It was a beautiful summer day. Lea was not needed at the school that day since she was on break but no matter how lovely her house was or how peaceful she wanted to get her two classrooms fixed early. She had her classroom in the school but since she taught Care of Magical Creatures she needed some place outside to teach as well. Most time she just had the class meet at the edge of the forest. She had a small overhanging built in case of rain, then the students could be dry for the lesson. She was cleaning the overhanging and putting up some new posters she made of the different creatures the classes would be learning about.
She loved the pictures of the Griffins especially since one of the pictures was of the one creature that stayed near the school grounds during the school year. During the summer it would usually travel to the mountains. Natia figured the Griffin was a North African species, a relative of the Spynx because of it's beautiful golden color and the fact that it was starting to grow a mane. She figured it was traders/smugglers that brought it over to Europe.
Lea noticed the new professor walking in the forest watching one of the Gryffindors' 'pet'. "Beautiful creatures aren't they" She stated. "There is no need to worry about this one. It's kind usually feed off of small mammals like rabbits and such as well as fish. Slasher there rarely eats stag. And only if there is nothing else to hunt or he is hunting with his 'partner'" Lea smiled as she approached the fawn. "My name is Leanua Natia, Lea for short. It is a pleasure to meet you" Lea extended her hand in a greeting.

Rainflower calmed and her fur flattened when she saw the other teacher and reassured her that it wouldn't actually attack her. "That's good then." She said but still kept her eyes on the beast. " Rainflower flinched, almost butting the other professor in the head. That was a greeting for her kind, but to a normal human it could really hurt. "I'm Rainflower. Most of the humans just call me Rain though." It was only then that she noticed Leanua's outstretched hand. She looked over it at several different angles, but she couldn't tell what it was for.
"Umm, I'm guessing that you'd be the care of magical creatures professor then. Why does it live here? And what is its partner?"
