Alaya walked along the grounds. The sky was cloudy and threatened to rain. She was wondering about all the crazy things that had happened. So many students were involved and the teachers were not always there except a couple. She couldn't get the fact that Dante was let back in the school, well let in the school. She shook the thoughts from her head. This walk was to calm down not dwell in the past. She took a deep breath and leaned agienst a large oak tree.

Dante sat alone in his dorm. He had almost forgotten how eerie the dungeons were when you didn't have company. He fidgeted anxiously as he glanced around for something to do. It was one of those days when nothing happened, and it drove Dante insane. He was so used to having missions, or at least the responsibilities of a Death Eater, and always having something to keep him occupied.
With some extra will power, Dante heaved himself off his bed and grabbed a jacket. He was going out to the grounds, and nothing was going to stop him.
As he stepped out of the doors, a cold breeze welcomed him with chills down his spine. The clouds were pregnant with raindrops just waiting for the perfect moment to fall. But the weather was not the only thing he noticed, and certainly not the most interesting. A certain Alaya Tiaun was leaning against a large tree. It was then that Dante realized he hadn't had the opportunity to talk with her alone yet. Since he already made up with Emilia, he might as well try to make up with Tiaun.
He jogged up to her, hoping to beat the raindrops already beginning to fall to the ground. "Hey," he greeted, leaning next to her under the protection of the tree.

Alaya looked up to see Dante Black walking towards her. Rain started to fall on the grounds. She really didn't mind the rain. Se very much enjoyed it. "Hi, so what brings you out on this lovely day" She teased. Alaya closed her eyes as a few drops of rain fell on her face. It was cool, and felt good on her warm skin. It was strange how everything felt calm and not hostile as it used to.

"I could ask you the same question, Tiaun," he teased back while staring up into the distant gray sky. Several rain drops splashed off his face, adding an extra cold element to the mix. "Really there's just nothing to do in that castle," he admitted. His life did seem exponentially duller since he returned to school. A part of him missed his old life, but he knew that if he got the chance he'd never go back. The Death Eaters held no future for him, while at Hogwarts he could turn his life around.
For the first time in a long time Dante felt no need to be defensive around Alaya. Sure, there was still that awkward tension, but it would soon fade away. He and Emilia were able to get rid of it, and it wouldn't be long before he and Alaya worked things out. In theory, it would be easier seeing as Alaya had a slightly less rocky past with Dante than Emilia had.

Alaya shrugged her shoulders. She really had no idea how to react to Dante. There was that rivalry between them but she also felt that he was 'good'. Could she become friends with him after all that had happened. "I will have to agree with you there, Black, the castle is boring half of the time" She half whispered. Her mind drifted as she breathed in the calming smell of the rain. The sound of the rain was soothing. She looked down, her mind searching for something to say but not wanting to break the silence.

The dark, heavy clouds above Dante and Alaya gave the air around them an ominous feel. It almost seemed as if the weather was mimicking their past: stormy, rough, and complicated. One would think that after all they had gone through, there would be no possibility of making up. Or a very fat chance, anyway. But, somehow, Dante was standing next to Alaya, and there weren't any spells whizzing through the air or hatred burning in their eyes.
If small talk was the way she wanted to go, so be it. Dante would muster up what little conversational skills he had and use them. "What happens the other half of the time that's so interesting?" he asked dully as he wiped a raindrop from his nose. Part of him figured he already knew the answer, but asked anyway to avoid any long bout of silence.

Alaya grinned. She turned her head up to see the sky. What happened that made the school more interesting? Well That was easy to answer. "The fights and battles that go on make this place more interesting. Also the drama is fun to watch" She said with a slight laugh. She turned her head so she was facing Dante. Her eyes were full of kindness and she had on a warm smile. It was completely different from what it used to be. She hated him from before but now her seemed fine. She no longer hated him but could she ever say that. What if something happened and they were enemies again. Friendship was a strong bond, were they ready?

Dante smirked in return to Alaya's grin. His hypothesis was right; there was nothing more exciting than a battle. Even before he got back to school, he had been present for two of those battles. One on the Valentines Day dance a few years back, and the battle when he lost the one person he lived for. Why was he still here, then? To be honest, he wasn't even totally sure.
As he reminisced about the past couple years, something rather amusing occurred to him. With each year, he had gotten softer and softer. The dance was a time when he was purely rotten; the last battle he had a tad bit more compassion; and now he was a changed man. Somewhere along the line, something must have changed inside him. The thought was almost embarrassing for all its corniness, and Dante had the impulse to force the idea from him mind. No, Dante Black was ruthless and merciless.
Oh, who was he kidding. Although he might have been at one time, he was no longer a monster.
A soft sigh escaped from his lips, and he tilted his head to look at Alaya. It was a peaceful moment. "That's what I thought. Knowing the way things are, there'll probably be a couple more battles before we're dead," he mused. Half of him wished to never see such violence again, and the other half longed for the adventure.

Alaya looked up at the dark sky. "I can't wait" She stated. It was true, she couldn't wait for the next fight. She knew it wasn't right to like to fight but it was a part of her. It was her nature to want to fight. The rain lightened up a bit. "So Dante Black. Why the change from a Deatheater to a Student willing to fight them?" She asked. It was a shot, but she wanted to know what happened. There was no harm in curiosity, even if it did kill the cat.

Of course Alaya couldn't wait to fight again. From what Dante observed she didn't like to be left out of a battle. Rather, she liked to be in the center of it. Tiaun did have a slight advantage over others, though, being a werewolf. Alaya was a werewolf, Dante had the training of a Death Eater; together they could make a feared team. The boy flirted with his thought for a moment and then let it go.
The inevitable question Dante knew had to come sooner or later still caught him off guard. Sure, he had thought through several answers he could give, but right now none of them seemed appropriate. It was times like this he wished people were able to read his mind so they could understand the thoughts he wasn't able to be put into words. How could he possibly express something so deep?
"Huh," Dante half-heartedly chuckled, still lost inside his thoughts, "good question." His mind raced, trying desperately to find the right words. "I used to think that as I got older, my heart would get colder. But it just got torn up. You can't be a Death Eater unless you have a rock for a heart." Was that what he wanted to say? Dante glanced at Alaya with his dark gray eyes, hoping that she understood. Dante Black wasn't the bad guy anymore, he just didn't have what it takes.
